Medact is looking for an organiser to support the growing climate movement among the UK health community in the run up to the Climate CoP in Glasgow this year, and beyond.
Join us for our 2020 gathering to explore the interlinked societal and political structures which damage health and how health workers can use their skills and their social mandate to create change for good.
We need your help to build our dynamic movement of health workers and activists
It’s election time, so we’ve been poring over the manifestos from all the major parties to see how they stack up against the aims of our different campaigns and work areas.
We are very pleased to announce our upcoming Medact Gathering will take place in Spring 2020.
Details of our next meeting on the evening of Thursday 21st November
The Medical Defence Union (MDU) and the Medical Protection Society (MPS) are fuelling the climate crisis by investing significant amounts of money in fossil fuel companies. These investments pose a serious ethical dilemma for MDU/MPS members as they conflict with the duty to “do no harm”.
If you are a member of either the MDU or MPS, please consider signing the letter below which will be sent to your relevant medical defence union once a threshold number of signatures is reached.
To correspond with the recent publication of the IPPNW-Germany paper ‘How Nuclear Power powers the Bomb’, we publish a blog by Frank Boulton outlining the financial, environmental, health and geo-political arguments around nuclear power.
In light of the proposed expansion of Bristol airport will damage air quality, increase noise pollution and contribute to climate change, all of which are significant threats to human health. If you live in Bristol and work in health then please consider signing this letter calling on the Council to commit to preventing the expansion of Bristol airport.
