75th Anniversary Hiroshima Day Appeal
In 2020, we mark the 75th anniversary of the world’s first nuclear attacks, on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Together these attacks are estimated to have claimed a quarter of a million lives.
In the intervening years, many have dismissed the seriousness of the threats to global security that nuclear weapons pose. This year has shown the world the risk of complacency in the face of such existential threats.
While 2020 has revealed so many inequities and insecurities in our current system, it also presents us with a window for positive change.
We must seize this moment to drive forward our vision of a safer, fairer, better world — free from existential threats like nuclear weapons.
