Detainees in Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre are in their second week of hunger strike in protest over conditions of their detention and, crucially, the policy of indefinite detention in the UK.

You can read the strikers’ demands here and you can find suggestions of ways to show support or solidarity for them here.

Below, we publish practical notes for those on hunger strike written by Dr. Frank Arnold, Medact trustee and Director of the Forrest Medico-Legal Services. If you know someone on hunger strike in Yarl’s Wood IRC, this advice may be useful for them.
