Rachel is Brighton & Hove CCG Clinical Lead for Sustainability, a role given the allotted time of 4 hours a week. In the rest of the working week, she is partner in a GP practice in central Brighton, and also works as CCG Clinical Lead for Community Services. In her role as Sustainability Lead, she has worked in partnership with commissioners, Brighton & Hove City Council, and the voluntary sector to develop initiatives which improve the value, quality and safety of healthcare, while reducing waste, protecting resources and maintaining a focus on holistic care, with the wellbeing of staff and patients at its core. Projects have included inhaler recycling, a scheme addressing fuel poverty and ‘healthy homes’, a successful bid to set up a city bike share scheme, and work to embed stewardship of resources into the primary care Local Enhanced Services contract.
