Nimo-Ilhan Ali is post-doctoral research associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her research focuses on youth related issues in Somaliland in particular their access to higher education and employment after graduation.
Nimo has also been researching youth migration and displacement in Somalia/Somaliland. She has taught at SOAS Economic Department and has worked as a consultant for FAO, UNICEF, the Rift Valley Institute, the Danish Demining Group, the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development. She has also worked as a technical advisor on a national employment strategy for the Somaliland Ministry of National Planning and Development.
