Medact Research Network

Research at Medact is an important foundation for our organising and campaigns.

The Medact Research Network, established in 2020, exists to harness the knowledge and skills expertise of our members. We offer opportunities for members to contribute to campaign-oriented research projects and have produced briefings and reports on a range of health justice issues.

In 2026, we established a Research Steering Group to support the work of the wider network. Its aims are:

  • People and community: to organise through research by animating, building connections amongst, and fostering community in the Medact research network;
  • Skills and knowledge: to build knowledge and research capacity/expertise around the use of anti-oppressive and power-sharing research methods;
  • Facilitating research: to encourage and support research projects driven by organisers that centre the needs of people who experience health injustice.
