Air pollution impacts cognitive abilities. Dr Guddi Singh, member of Doctors Against Diesel argues, “As our knowledge of the link between air pollution and ill health grows, so does the weight of our responsibility towards those affected by it, especially the next generation.”
Doctors Against Diesel are calling for the use of diesel fuels to be banned in our urban areas and progressively phased out elsewhere. We want to see a future in which personal exposure to soot and gases from vehicles is dramatically reduced, and that a choice to travel actively (walking, cycling, with public transport) does not result in increased personal exposure.
The Chancellor has a chance to protect children’s lungs in his budget this month. Let’s make sure it happens.
We’ve got to get diesel cars off our roads to protect everyone’s health.
