Beth Dorrans is a final year medical student at the University of Glasgow with an interest in global health and health inequalities. As part of her course, she completed an intercalated degree in Clinical Medicine specialising in Global Health in a Primary Care Context, receiving awards for best oral project presentation, and highest achieving student in the global health specialist course. Outside of medicine Beth is actively involved in Students for Global Health (formerly Medsin), in roles including GlaIsgow president, co-chair for the most recent National Conference and chair of the national working group for asylum seeker and refugee health. She also enjoys music, playing fiddle in a ceilidh band most weekends. In the future Beth hopes to work in general practice and academia, focusing on the care of marginalised patient groups and addressing inequalities that exist within healthcare.
