SUMMARY:Ensuring Universal Healthcare in the NHS: Advocacy tools in the context of migrant charging
DESCRIPTION:In October 2017 the NHS underwent a fundamental shift in the way it provides care – for the first time since the NHS was founded\, Trusts are required to charge patients upfront for treatment.  \nThis event will explore the impact of NHS charging regulations on migrants and the role healthcare workers have in improving access to care for all\, both in advocating for patients facing increasing barriers to care\, and in protecting the universal principles that underpin the NHS. DESCRIPTION:The next Medact Bristol general meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th April at 7pm at St Michael’s Hospital in the ground floor meeting room.\nWe will be taking a look at all we have achieved so far this year and looking ahead to further action. We will be discussing the next steps for both our Air Pollution and Refugee Healthcare Access work streams\, and giving members the opportunity to bring their own ideas for campaigns to the table. \nWe will also be allocating organising committee roles for next year! From August\, there will be leadership positions available and we need enthusiastic people to fill them! Regardless of previous experience with Medact or any other campaign group\, we need people with ideas who share the values of Medact and want to take a leading role in the future work of Medact Bristol. \nIf you would like more information on the organising roles within Medact Bristol before the meeting\, please contact me bristol@medact.org
