Ten years ago, Medact embarked on a renewed mission to harness the potential of the health community to bring about progressive social change and health justice. Since then, we have grown from strength to strength, punching above our weight on some of the most important social and environmental issues of our time.

We are now looking for a new Chair of our 15-strong Board of Trustees. As Chair, you will support the Executive Director and staff to help build on our achievements and realise Medact’s vision. You will work with fellow Trustees to make up a strong and effective Board governing the charity.

Who Are We Looking For?

Primarily we are looking for someone who is passionate about the work Medact does and believes they can help us do it better. If you’re unsure whether you meet the requirements of the job description we encourage you to email us for a chat, we’re keen to support everyone who is interested to apply for the role. You can get in touch to ask questions at [email protected]

We’re especially looking for someone who is actively networked within the health community or broader social justice movement, experienced in governance or strategic leadership of a charity or NGO, and has the skills to line-manage the Executive Director. They’ll have the ability to advocate on behalf of Medact’s work, as well as helping to build the membership and public image of the organisation.

Medact is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation. Trustee and chair roles are not remunerated. However, if finances are a barrier to participation, we would like to discuss how we can overcome that. Reasonable expenses for attending meetings can be paid.
