Medact is seeking to appoint up to 4 new trustees. This is to replace trustees standing down, including those required to do so after a maximum period of office.
As members will be aware, Medact is a highly regarded UK charity for health professionals and others working to promote health worldwide. Our charitable mission is to promote social justice and critique the drivers of war including climate change, and to promote the right to healthcare and ecological security through education and public engagement. Medact is also affiliated to the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW).
As Board members, Trustees are responsible for the governance of the organisation in line with the requirements of the Charities Commission. We also contribute to the development of Medact’s strategy and participate in a range of other activities to support the Director and staff in the implementation of our plans.
The current Board has a diverse membership, with trustees including doctors, academics, people with research, legal, charity and local government experience. We are seeking, at this stage, to strengthen the representation of health professionals to replace those standing down. We would particularly like to include more people with a public health, nursing or paramedical background, or fundraising experience.
For more information about what is involved in being a trustee, or an informal chat, please contact Ruth Stern on email@example.com.
To apply to become a trustee, please send a brief CV with a supporting statement to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 12th June.
We will follow this up with an informal interview with two/three existing trustees in June; and ratify new trustee appointments at the Medact AGM on 15th July.
