Global Health Professionals Call for Transition Away from Coal

Medact has joined with more than 80 global health organizations from 30 different countries – together representing more than 300,000 doctors, nurses and public health professionals, as well as public health advocates who support them – to call on the G7 nations to accelerate the global transition away from coal-fired electricity.

The letter explains some of the negative health outcomes attributable to air pollution from coal-fired power plants, as well as the links between climate change and health. It also offers examples of how G7 nations can promote renewable energy, energy conservation and energy efficiency as healthy alternatives to coal power.
